Uni holidays. That heavenly gift that really marks your time on campus as the golden years. That whole month in the middle of the year (or more if you’ve made the wise decision to choose assignment-only subjects that are due weeks before exam period…first-year students take note) that has full time workers seeing green, and students seeing white…that is the smart ones who come and spend Uni Week skiing, boarding and partying at the Sweat It Out Uni Week in Thredbo, Sunday July 16 – Friday July 21. With themed parties every night (#doubledenim), you’ll be looking more on fleek at Uni Week than a fashion blogger at Coachella.
THE PARTIES. Let’s get straight to the point. Obviously you’re not here to get your beauty sleep so Thredbo has gone ALL OUT to make sure that if you don’t want to sleep, you sure as hell don’t have to (though note that your shredding status and capabilities rapidly decreases the less sleep you get, so we recommend at least some shut eye).
“But I’m a poor uni student”… yes I hear you, and trust me I know the feeling…which is why Thredbo is offering an EPIC Uni Week deal that gives you 5 days of skiing, boarding AND all your partying for $359. That’s only $72 a day AND it includes a free bonus half day of skiing from 1pm on Sunday when you arrive.
We all know that Uni students are just as good at fooling their parents when they rock up at 7am “just back from an early gym sesh” (wink wink nudge nudge) as they are at fooling ourselves into thinking they don’t have any money (I may or may not speak from experience).
So, to put things in perspective, $72 a day is cheaper than:
– ANY textbook…and if you’re studying law it’s probably cheaper than half a textbook.
– A chicken parmi and beer at the pub + 1 failed bet on that horse that was “100% going to get up”
– Brunch at that hipster café every Saturday and Sunday (#smashedavogeneration – don’t fool yourself, you know you go every week)
– A night at the uni bar after you get that assignment back. Nuff’ said.
Enough of the money stuff… back to the PARTIES. There are parties EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. And not just any parties – Thredbo has teamed up with Maker and Canadian Club to bring you the epic “Sweat in the Snow Series”. We challenge you to ski all day and party all night (if you can!)…here’s what you’ve got to look forward to:
Sunday July 16th – Massive Uni Week Opening Party from 9pm until late at the Keller Bar, featuring Indian Summer and Go Freek…and don’t worry, you too can get out your inner freak with the Bad Sweater Theme. FREE BUSES back to Jindabyne (yep – no one has to be deso-driver, celebrations!) – make sure you pre-book your spot online.
Monday 17th – There is no excuse not to party with so many options: there’s DJ LUUKOZ at the Poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel (2-6pm), Kawaii Electric at the Lounge Bar (7-11pm, also on Tuesday and Wednesday nights) and Comedy Night at the Schuss Bar (8-10pm). In the spirit of 60 years of Thredbo, embrace your inner retro at the DOUBLE DENIM PARTY, 9pm until late at the Keller nightclub (*bonus points for any Britney and JT 90s-esque couples rocking the DOUBLE double denim).
Tuesday 18th – things are getting hottttt and by that I mean after a day of shredding get your sorry self to the heated pool & hot tub DJ session Poolside at the Thredbo Alpine hotel, 2-6pm followed by the hottest of them all: a Hot Doggin’ Party at the Keller (9pm – late).
Wednesday 19th – hit up Groove Academy playing poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel (2 – 6pm) before cruising on into the Retro Rocker Party at the Keller Nightclub (9pm – late).
Thursday 20th – Go out with a bang & dig out that bad sweater again (hopefully not too sweaty from night 1) at the closing night Poolside Apres Party featuring Yolanda Be Cool and Torren Foot (2 – 7pm). There’s no rest for the wicked…finish the night off at the official After Party in the Keller Nightclub. Once again there will be buses back to Jindabyne – make sure you book your spot early.
Friday 21st – if you are still standing, give yourself a high 5/ clap on the back/ throw a couple of celebratory shakkas for you have officially conquered uni week.
