Boarding & Funk: A Weekend Not To Miss…

Get the wax ready, speed boards out and game faces on because this weekend the Fourth Annual Transfer Banked Slalom returns to Thredbo for what will be an epic celebration of snowboarding followed by a huge concert featuring epic duo Client Liaison fresh off the back of a sold out national tour thanks to Kosciuszko Pale Ale.

No matter what type of boarder you are, from hotdogger to king of the groms, everyone is encouraged to register in the event and give it a crack this Saturday 19th. Challenge a mate or see if you’ve got what it takes to take down some of the quickest snowboarders on the planet.

There are a tonne activities and events on the agenda across the entire weekend, so make sure you don’t miss out by checking out all the details below.

The course

This year’s course draws inspiration from the mighty Bathurst 1000, where each year there is one champion who is dubbed ‘King of the Mountain’… we’re just switching out Mount Panorama for the slopes of Mount Kozzie. The banked turns, kinked corners and high speed straights are reminiscent of the infamous ‘Dipper’, ‘Forrest’s Elbow’ and of course, the renowned ‘Conrod Straight’. As fate would have it, the race will actually be taking place from the top of Conrod Straight (lookers left of Sponars T-Bar) where poll position will be thrown out the window and riders will be vying for top spot right out of the gates.

Saturday 19th:

All the action kicks off from 10am at the top of Conrod Straight (lookers left of Sponars T-Bar) where competitors will be able to collect their race plate alongside an Oyuki facemask and exclusive Transfer sticker sheet.

Prizes:

The ‘King of the Mountain’ will take their place on top of the podium, showered by glory and probably champagne along with a bunch of prizes.

But that’s not all, we have an awesome selection of prizes for punters who are bringing the life to the party, plus the punters who back themselves as the dark horse.

• The Spirit Award – As the name suggests, the Spirit award goes to the person who embodies the attitude of the banked slalom… whether it’s a outrageous costume, a game changing setup, or just a champion’s attitude, the winner will walk away with an all expenses paid for 4 night stay at Mammoth Mountain with lift passes included.

• The Mediocre Award – It’s harsh but true… Are you consistently ordinary? Middle of the pack? Close but no cigar? Are you a middle child? We recognise that you’re always in it to win it, but never getting rewarded. It takes guts to keep coming back (now that’s the spirit of the banked slalom!) but that’s why we’re giving you the chance to win one of the most unique prizes on the hill – an entry into the Baker Banked Slalom.
