The Weather Guy – The Storm of the Season
Posted on 5 Sep, 2017 in Weather Forecast
We’re midway through Blizzard of Oz Round Three and the snow just keeps piling up!
With over 80cm falling since Monday morning, conditions on the mountain are unreal from top to bottom.
These heavy snowfalls have not stopped all day either and don’t show any sign of stopping any time soon. Temperatures have remained super chilly, maxing out at just -6 degrees which has kept the snow light, dry and super soft, with flurries even collecting by the lake in Jindabyne.
To top it off, gusty west/northwesterly winds have been scouring the main range of their snow stock pile before dumping it across the resort creating some super soft, deep wind stashes.
Looking ahead, snowfalls are likely to continue for the rest of the week, with further 15-30cm of fresh powder falling across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Although these totals are slightly lighter than what we’ve seen so far this week, a cold front late on Thursday into Friday morning will keep temperatures super chilly, keeping snow quality super light, dry and soft.
This could easily push us over the 1 metre mark by the weekend… which is shaping up to be epic by the way.
Apart from the chance of a few light flurries on Saturday, conditions should settle down with light winds and clearing skies on Sunday with epic snow conditions to enjoy.
Until then, enjoy the powder days!
