Ride Australia’s premier mountain bike park.
Thredbo Mountain Bike (MTB) Park is Australia’s premier biking destination with the only lift-accessed trails in the country. The park will open from 20 November 2021 to 25 April 2022, offering over 35km of bike trails for everyone from first-timers to pros.
The Thredbo MTB Park includes a series of downhill, flow and cross-country trails and has features such as berms, gaps, rock drops, technical single-track riding with plenty of variation and obstacles to navigate, plus a pump track and skills park for all ages.
For the first time since opening in 2020, Australia’s Only Alpine Gondola – Merritts Gondola – will be open to mountain bikers and foot passengers providing easy access to Merritts Mountain House and the lower half of the All-Mountain Trail.
Thredbo is excited to unveil their newest trail, “Sidewinder”, an entry-level gravity mountain bike trail perfect for those new to the sport. The beginner green 2.7km trail begins near the top of Merritts Gondola and links with either the home trail to Friday Flat or Valley Terminal.
MTB Business Manager, Tim Windshuttle said the trail is an excellent introduction to the mountain bike park but is also a lot of fun for all levels of riders.
“It’s really exciting to be able to offer options for all levels of gravity mountain bikers this summer. The trail is a machine-built flow trail that will take riders on a roller coaster-like experience, requiring little pedalling and braking. The trail features deep flowing berms, rolling terrain and some small features to test your skills,” said Mr Windshuttle.
Guests can purchase a one-day adult Mountain Bike ticket from $89. This summer, buy your lift passes seven or more days in advance online and save up to 15%.
The Thredbo MTB School will be offering 2-hour Learn to Ride lessons for those 7 years and over for just $49, and clinics for intermediates and advanced from $79.
Thredbo Retail and Rental offers an extensive range of the latest gravity focused enduro and downhill bikes from Norco, plus e-bikes, recreational mountain bikes and all the protective gear needed for a day up the hill.
Incredible hikes on the roof of Australia
Thredbo is home to some of Australia’s most scenic hiking trails with over 20 hikes throughout the Snowy Mountains offering views of glacial lakes, unique flora and fauna and mountains as far as the eye can see.
It’s also where people from all over come to tick off a unique bucket list item – to summit Australia’s highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko. The 13-kilometre family-friendly journey gives people the chance to stand on the roof of Australia and take in some of the best views in the country.

There is a range of different guided hikes to join, including moderately paced family-oriented hikes like the Kosciuszko Summit Hike, to hikes that take you through the high, windswept regions way amongst the tallest peaks in the country; such as the Mt Townsend Hike.
There is no better way to get to know our high country, with its beautiful wild flowers, unique landscapes and stunning and rugged peaks, than to get amongst them with a knowledgeable guide leading the way.
Thredbo is excited to announce that in 2021 the resort achieved 10 years of ECO Certification with Ecotourism Australia. This means guests can get to know our high country with minimal impact on the environment.
The summer hiking season in Thredbo is open until 25 April 2022. Most of the alpine hiking trails start from the top of the resort which can be accessed via the Kosciuszko Express chairlift. Adult scenic passenger day passes start from $49.
