Thredbo Jobs
Life in the Snowies
We’re all about work-life balance and Thredbo encourages employees to live as passionately outside of work as they do at work. Thredbo is a winter playground for skiing and snowboarding, but there is so much more to offer. Thredbo doesn’t go to sleep once the snow melts, but ramps up with mountain biking and hiking.
But first, let’s fill you in on a few of the finer details about where to find a place to live and how you will get to work! Generally, winter rental properties are advertised from January/February each year, and summer rentals from August/September for both Jindabyne and Thredbo.
Living in Thredbo
Thredbo is home to around 300 year-round residents, however that number jumps to over 4,000 (including guests) in winter. While services may be limited to an extent, it’s rare to not be able to get a hold of whatever it is that you need. Services in Thredbo include:
- Medical centre
- Supermarket
- Post office
- Newsagent and a few shops
- Thredbo Leisure Centre
- Over 30 restaurants, bars and food outlets open in winter
Please note that only a limited amount of staff accommodation is available in Thredbo. Private accommodation is also scarce and more expensive than Jindabyne.
Living in Jindabyne
The central hub of activity here in the Snowy Mountains, Jindabyne is a small country town with a local population of around 4,000 – and in winter months this number grows dramatically with seasonal workers and holidaymakers. The town is easy to get around on foot with most amenities centrally located in town:
- Small country town
- Post office
- Woolworths supermarket
- Hardware store
- Banks
- Restaurants and pubs
- Medical centre
- Limited internet options
Jindabyne is a half hour drive from Thredbo and there is no public transport between the two towns.
Most of our staff reside in Jindabyne and make the trip up to Thredbo for work each day. There is limited staff accommodation in Thredbo and is usually offered to specific job roles that are required to be in Thredbo overnight or very early in the morning.

Transport
Thredbo Village is located in the Kosciusko National Park, 33kms from Jindabyne. There is limited public transport within the area and it can be difficult if you do not have your own car. In order to bring your own vehicle, you will need a national parks entry pass. Thredbo employees are entitled to a park entry pass at a discounted rate and it is valid for the period of your employment.
It is compulsory to carry properly fitting snow chains when driving a two-wheel-drive vehicle between the June and October long weekends on the Alpine Way. You can purchase or rent these in Jindabyne.
