Day 1 Delivers…

What a way to kick off winter! Thanks to the early season storm and 5cm of fresh snow falling last night, Thredbo’s opening day delivered plenty of terrain for all abilities.

The cold temperatures meant snow continued to fall up high across Saturday, keeping the upper tracks fresh. Conditions were moderately windy, but plenty of shredders pushed through and made the most of the early season turns.
We had six lifts running all day; Merritts Gondola, Gunbarrel, The Cruiser, Easy Does It, Syd’s Snowrunner, and Easy Rider.
The snow cover up high meant the Cruiser area and the upper sections of High Noon and Dream Run were the picks of the day.
The Easy Rider Terrain Park made its season debut with a stack of features, including rails, boxes, two 15ft jumps, and two 25ft jumps.
Families and beginners enjoyed the wintery conditions down in the village, making the most of the first day of the season.
The forecasts say Sunday will be partly cloudy, clearing, with low winds, so make sure you stick around for another great day here in Thredbo.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
