Easter is almost here! Bring the family and celebrate these school holidays with a mountain adventure in Thredbo!
Whether it’s getting out and exploring the great outdoors or sitting back and relaxing with a cold beverage at the Merritts Mountain House, here are 9 things you can do with your friends and family this Easter.
Easter Adventure Carnival
The Easter Adventure Carnival kicks off on 9 April with a two-week calendar jam-packed with activities. From gondola rides, Easter Bunny visits, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, face painting, kids’ bike races and more, there’s something for everyone these school holidays.
Take a Hike
Autumn is a magical time to explore the mountains by foot with a range of trails to explore! Whether it’s a family friendly hike to the top of Mt. Kosciuszko or an advanced day hike across the Australian Main Range, there’s something for every age and ability to enjoy. There’s also guided hikes for a truly special experience.
Rent a Mountain Bike
Find out for yourself why Thredbo is Australia’s premier mountain bike destination with more than 35 kilometres of trails to explore! Families will love Thredbo’s newest gravity mountain bike trail for beginners, Sidewinder.
Take a Scenic Ride
Sit back and take in the mountain vistas aboard the Kosciuszko Express chairlift. The Kosciuszko Express takes 15 minutes one way and rises 560 vertical metres, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains of the Kosciuszko National Park and the stunning Thredbo Valley. At the top you’ll have easy access to several of the region’s most scenic hiking trails!
Alpine Bobsled Rides
Enjoy the family friendly 700m Alpine Bobsled track as it twists and turns its way down the mountain whilst you control the speed with a brake on your sled. Thredbo’s Alpine Bobsled track is located just a short distance from Valley Terminal along the Merritts Nature Track.
Ride the Merritts Gondola
The state of-the-art Merritts Gondola will open especially for the opening weekend of the Easter Carnival. Australia’s only alpine gondola takes guests up the mountain in just six minutes via comfortable European-style cabins. Over the Easter weekend, guests will have a chance to win a Lindt basket of chocolate goodies on randomly selected gondola cabins.
Live Music
Sit back and relax with your friends and family and enjoy great live music at a variety of venues across Thredbo, all part of the Easter Adventure Carnival.
This is Just a Tribute Music Festival
Celebrate the bands and iconic songs you grew up with at the This Is Just A Tribute Festival. Set in the stunning Snowy Mountains on the shores of Lake Jindabyne, this festival pays tribute to the artists we all love. Including an exclusive headline performance by Australian Rock Collective performing classics from The Beatles, this two day event will have you raising your arms and singing along to the classic tracks of Queen, Fleetwood Mac, U2, ABBA, INXS and many more.
Thredbo Leisure Centre
Head to the Thredbo Leisure Centre for your daily dose of exercise with lap swimming in the pool or a 50-minute gym session, while families can book the indoor court for basketball and table tennis or head to the squash court for a friendly game. You can also book Mission Inflatable for an activity the kids will love!
