Thredbo Alpine Coaster | New For Winter 2024!
First rides are on this winter! We’re launching the Southern Hemisphere’s first-ever Alpine Coaster this winter and we know its going to be a hit with all generations from the young to the young at heart.
Open from June 8, get ready for a thrilling new way to experience the mountain 365 days a year. At 1.5km in length, you can control your speed of up to 40km/h while travelling along a mix of uphill and downhill tracks featuring a tunnel, bridges and circles that traverse the stunning alpine environment.
To ride the Alpine Coaster on their own, children must be 8 years of age or older and over 135 cm tall. For kids aged 3 to 8, they can double up with a responsible person over 15 years.
Entertainment For The Whole Family | New For Winter 2024!
Entertainment is for all ages in Thredbo! For the first time this winter, we’re hosting a free Kids Live Alpine Concert ft. The Beanies on July 11 where kids can dance their hearts out while the parents enjoy drinks by the fire.
Skiing and Snowboarding | Kids Ski From $44 A Day!

Ski And Snowboard Programs
It’s time to book the kids in at Thredbo Snowsports School! With Thredboland for the little ones (3 – 6-year-olds), Adventure Camps for mini-shredders aged 5 – 12 and Freeriders for kids under 14, we offer a skiing and snowboarding program to suit every child. Led by an outstanding team of instructors, these programs are the best possible opportunity for children to build their skills and confidence while having fun. When they’re not ripping up the trails, kids can enjoy a special menu of children’s meals plus a schedule of fun activities with their ski buddies.
Saturday Night Flare Run & Fireworks Spectacular
Gather your friends and family to watch Thredbo’s iconic Flare Run and Fireworks Spectacular. An iconic Thredbo experience for over 30 years, watch our expert skiers and snowboarders wind their way down Supertrail with flares before the sky comes to life with fireworks that dance across the mountain. Held every Saturday night during winter (weather dependent), the Flare Run and Fireworks Spectacular is a magical way to finish a great day in Thredbo.
Thredbo Kids Snow Festivals
During the July and September school holidays, we host our Kids Snow Festivals where you can enjoy a specially curated lineup of kid-friendly activities and entertainment. Featuring kids-only movie nights, kids concerts, Lindt Chocolate s’mores, family fun nights, kids flare runs and fireworks plus lots more activities, the fun is non-stop.
Hot tip? Book the kids in for a supervised movie night to catch a few hours of adult après time!
On-Snow Events
The action is non-stop on the mountain for little shredders with many action-packed events that kids can get involved with!
Our hugely popular Project Shred event is returning on July 13, offering kids the chance to spend the day in the terrain park learning tips and tricks from some of Australia’s best skiers and snowboarders.
We also offer a range of age categories for kids across our huge calendar of skiing and snowboarding competitions including Thredbo Triple Crown, Battle On The Bluff, Thredbo Ridercross and more. Registrations are now open at thredbo.com.au.
Merritts Mountain Haus Feasts
Ride under the stars in Australia’s Only Alpine Gondola to Merritts Mountain House to enjoy a Bavarian-inspired feast! The ride down is an unforgettable one with views of the Thredbo Village lights below. Bookings are essential.
Thredbo Leisure Centre
Located just a 5-minute walk from Thredbo Village Square, the Thredbo Leisure Centre offers a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy. With a waterslide, Mission Inflatable, a heated pool, table tennis, trampoline sessions, an indoor sports hall, a bouldering wall, a squash court and a weights gym, Thredbo Leisure Centre is jam-packed with fun for kids and adults alike.
Winter 2024 Opening Weekend
There are only 17 days to go until our Opening Day for the 2024 winter season on June 8! With first rides on the brand-new Thredbo Alpine Coaster, the first days of skiing and snowboarding plus a non-stop line-up of entertainment, dining, kids’ activities and more, the 2024 Opening Weekend is set to be our biggest yet.
