Thredbo puts it’s greenthumb to work
Posted on 18 May, 2016 in Festivals & Events
We had quite the green thumb by the end of last Friday as employees and the wider community came together to plant trees in a reserve on the main road from Jindabyne to Thredbo, in an effort to improve the local environment. Over 600 trees were planted and the team at Greenfleet will complete the final planting this week, planting out another 2,500 trees in the area. This will contribute to the restoration of bushland and reducing erosion and weeds in the local area, helping offset the emissions of the Thredbo vehicle fleet.
It was great to see so many employees partake in Friday’s efforts and assist each other in the planting of a variety of different trees. The team worked very hard and planted 600 trees in a couple of hours, Greenfleet Manager Justin Glass claimed that he had never seen so many trees planted so efficiently before by such an pro-environmental group of employees. Great work team!
What was that? You care about sustaining the local Snowy Mountains environment and want to contribute somehow? Well, guests to Thredbo who purchase a Thredbo product this winter have the option to donate $4 to Greenfleet to offset their car’s emission from the commute to Thredbo. How cool is that! You can reduce your individual impact and help sustain the mountains you ski and ride on.
So get involved this winter by supporting the ‘MyThredbo Park Project’ and however else you can and let’s help Captain Planet take pollution down to zero!

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
