The weekend after the storm
Posted on 26 Jun, 2016 in Festivals & Events
You couldn’t script it. 24 hours of heavy snowfall lead us right into a weekend of sunshine. Last weeks storm delivered the dump of instant gratification that everyone so badly needed… 80 cms+ of soft, dry beautiful snow.
It’s hard to describe the crowd that showed up over the weekend…local legends, frothing first timers, long distance travellers and stacks of stoked shredders. It was the weekend that you skipped work, threw caution to the wind and just got up there, and boy, was it one to remember.
You could hear ecstatic ‘hoots’ and ‘yews!’ and shrieks of glee echoing from around the resort, whether it was coming from someone bellowing down Powder Bowl, a jibber nailing a trick at the Cruiser Terrain Park, or a newbie perfecting their first turn. Everyone was on the same level of froth and it was just fantastic.
Not often your first turns for the season is in 50 cm of pow. Shredding with @samrobbo93
