The Rail Garden: Snow Series Night Rails Wrap Up
Posted on 3 Jul, 2017 in Thredbo Parks
The beast that is the Thredbo Snow Series kicked off on Friday night under lights. As well as taking out the Night Rails event, points towards the overall series where up for grabs.
The Thredbo Parks Crew put together a feature with carefully considered options for the diverse range of abilities attending. A flat down box and a hero box for the groms and juniors. For the higher level competitors a long street style down rail with a gap on round rail either side was on offer. The rails could be ridden conventionally with the bonus temptation of transfer options on the table.
After 2 qualification hits finals were decided in a jam session format allowing the top riders in each field to push themselves and each other. While beats pumped the action heated up and the technicality of the tricks increased. The atmosphere was buzzing with the assembled crowd finding their voice and their favourite competitors. Large transfers were bolted down and the elusive rail to rail transfer was stomped by rail wizard Martin Longhitano.
The judges had the unenviable task of crunching the numbers and deciding the victors. High fives were exchanged and poses struck on the podium for the assembled paparazzi. Night Rails done and dusted with Ridercross up next on July 21st. To register and find out more about all events in the Thredbo Snow Series hit the link. Big thanks to the series sponsors Peg, Burton, Go Pro, Rhythm Snowsports and Rossignol. It wouldn’t be possible to do it with out them.
