Opening Day: Fresh First Turns for Winter!
Posted on 16 Jun, 2018
Day one went off with a bang! The storm “Stormin Norman” delivered another 15cm overnight, bringing the total accumulation so far to 50cm…best news is, it’s still dumping! Fingers crossed Norman keeps delivering the goods over the next couple days, experts have forecast he’s sticking round for a little while longer bringing another 20cm of fresh snow.
Skiers and snowboarders we’re queuing up at 7:30am in the Gunbarrel lift line to ensure that they got their taste of the first fresh tracks of the season. Fresh turns for opening day was a sure treat for everyone that made it up the mountain.
The Cruiser and Easy Does It area were open for skiers and boarders to find their early season feet and there’s a big chance that more runs will open up tomorrow and next week. It’s perfect conditions for early season turns right now…it was hard to spot anyone not sporting a big fat smile on their face today.
Sheryl Scosin, a first timer snowboarder who’s visiting on holiday with her family said that she “found the conditions amazing and was not expecting snow like this for so early in the season”. First timers loved Friday Flat and the easy beginner terrain…not long till they’ll be shredding up at the Cruiser area, as lots of guests enjoyed ski and board lessons on the first day of the season.
Charles Joseph, an enthusiast skier claimed that “these are some of the best early season conditions conditions, can’t believe I’m scoring fun pow turns on opening day”.
Lucas McGrath, a snowboarder from Sydney further claimed that “this is by far the best opening day I’ve had, there’s freshies to be found everywhere”.
With snow still falling now and forecast to continue into the night, tomorrow is shaping up to be an amazing day two on the slopes! It’s time to get out the skis, board and facemask out and into action because winter is officially here and it ain’t leaving!
Bring it on…
