Top 10 Things To Do In Thredbo This Spring
Posted on 10 Sep, 2020 in Activities
Thredbo is Australia’s premier year round adventure destination! Being open 365 days a year, we pride ourselves on having a mountain of fun every single one of those days. Here are 10 things you, your friends and the whole family can take advantage of to maximise your fun in the mountains.
Alpine Bobsled
Seeking some thrills? Enjoy the family friendly 700m Alpine Bobsled* track as it twists and turns its way down the mountain whilst you control the speed with a brake on your sled. Thredbo’s Alpine Bobsled track is located just a short distance from Valley Terminal along the Merritts Nature Track.
*Open Sat – Sun & open daily from 1 Nov
Scenic Chairlift Ride
Taking a scenic chairlift ride is a must do. The Kosciuszko Express* ride takes 15 minutes one way and rises 560 vertical metres, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains of the Kosciuszko National Park and the stunning Thredbo Valley.
*From 11 Oct – 5 Nov, Snowgums Chairlift will operate instead of Kosciuszko Express Chairlift.
Hikes & Bikes
Springtime is a great time to get adventurous and explore the Thredbo Village and surrounds by foot.
If you’re bringing a bike, check out Thredbo’s lower mountain cross-country MTB trails or head down to Jindabyne and ride the ever growing trail network that surrounds Lake Jindabyne.
Pack the Bikes, Scooters & Picnic Set
In the Village Green, the Thredbo Skate Park and Pump Track are open for business and provide a great area for the little ones to burn some energy. Combine that with a couple of trampolines, a playground and a large grass area with BBQ’s and it’s the ideal place for a family picnic.
Get Sporty
Grab your joggers and take on your mates in a game of tennis or disc golf in the fresh mountain air!
Disc golf is one of the fastest growing and most accessible sports in the world. It is played with similar rules to traditional golf, however Frisbees or discs are used instead of balls, with players throwing the disc from a tee area, then completing the hole by successfully putting their disc in to an elevated metal basket in the least amount of throws possible.
Thredbo Leisure Centre
Head to the Thredbo Leisure Centre for your daily dose of exercise with lap swimming in the pool or a 50 minute gym session, while families can book the indoor court for basketball and table tennis or head to the squash court for a friendly game.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
