Supporting The Chill Foundation To Give More Kids Opportunities On The Mountain
Posted on 16 Sep, 2022
Last week, Thredbo proudly partnered with The Chill Foundation and Nepean Community Neighbourhood Services to host a three-day snowboarding workshop for 18 kids between the ages of 10 and 16 who had never seen snow before.
The Chill Foundation was established by Burton’s Founders Jake and Donna in 1995, providing the opportunity for kids from marginalised communities to participate in board sports, learn new skills and build their confidence.
This year, The Chill Foundation hosted its snow program in Thredbo and with the help of some of our enthusiastic instructors, the kids were ripping down the mountain and having a blast in no time!
‘It was so good to get the Chill program back up and running again in our region after a two-year break,’ said Ash McCann, a Burton Australia employee, and Chill Australia Coordinator. ‘The kids this year were so keen to get after it, and like most years, I’m always blown away at how quick they take up snowboarding and progress. What’s also really cool is that the Alpine environment tends to bring kids out of their shells, and as long as they are having fun and getting everything out of the experience, that’s all we could ask for.’
Thredbo Resort looks forward to continuing its support for this amazing program for years to come.
For now, check out some more of the fun from the workshop below…
