Wrapping Up A Record-Breaking 2023 Cannonball MTB Festival

That’s a wrap on the Cannonball MTB Festival Presented By Boost Mobile and the 2023 AusCycling National Championships! Over 6 days, 5 massive events of gravity racing, activations, a huge line-up of pros and live entertainment, Thredbo saw its biggest event yet with over 900 registered competitors and over 3000 spectators turning out throughout the week!
Day One: Practice Time
On Monday, riders descended on Thredbo MTB Park to get in some practice for their races this week, testing out the courses & picking their lines.
Day Two: Osprey All-Mountain Assault
On Tuesday, the Osprey All Mountain Assault kicked off with Tim Eaton taking the gold in the men’s division with an impressive time of 6:31, followed by Josh Arcus winning silver and Duke Millington winning bronze. In the Women’s Division, Harriet Harden won gold with Zoe Cuthbert and Jess Hoskin hot on her heels in second and third.

Day Three: Fox Flow Motion Cup
Wednesday saw riders compete in the Fox Flow Motion Cup. Tim Eaton and Harriet Harnden took out the wins and claimed the National Championship titles in the Pro Divisions, making it a double win after both riders won All Mountain Assault on Tuesday.
Day Four: RockShox Pump Track
On Thursday, the energy was electric in Thredbo, with record-breaking riders and spectators turning out to Thredbo’s Village Green to get involved with the action at the RockShox Pump Track Challenge. The Final Races in the Pro Divisions saw Jayce Cunning and Anna Newkirk becoming the new King and Queen of the Pump Track for 2023.

Day Five: Oakley Australian Open Downhill Seeding
Friday was the Official Seeding race for the highly-anticipated Oakley Australian Open Downhill event on Saturday, resulting in Thredbo Ambassador Sian A’Hern taking the number one seed in the Pro Women’s Division and international rider Jackson Goldstone in the Men’s Division.
Day Six: Australian Open Downhill Race, The Deity Whip Wars & North East Party House (DJ Set)
Saturday, the sixth and final day, the Oakley Australian Open Downhill event, saw the number one seeds Sian A’Hern take out the win in the Pro Women’s Downhill and Jackson Goldstone in the Men’s Division.
Shortly after the Downhill races, it was time for the crowd favourite, The Deity Whip Wars event, where we saw a team of invite-only riders wow the crowd of spectators with their flips, tricks and whips.
Tim Eaton and Harriet Harnden were crowned the overall King and & Queen of Cannonball 2023 before rolling into the Official Cannonball Closing party with a live DJ set from North East Party House.
