Join qualified astronomers from Mount Stromlo Observatory for an amazing night of exploration and discovery of the beautiful alpine night sky.
Take advantage of the minimal light pollution and high-quality telescopes to see the craters of the Moon up close, beautiful star clusters, and nebulae underneath the Milky Way.
Our guides will run through a quick seminar in the Kosciuszko Room from 5:30pm, explaining the wonderful dark world you are about to encounter. This presentation is open to everyone.
After the indoor presentation, make your way out to the viewing area on the Thredbo Golf Course for your allocated time slot. Starting at the Thredbo Church, follow the lights along the Riverside Walk to reach the destination.
The 45-minute guided outdoor telescope sessions are open to all ages. Warm clothing, sturdy footwear and torches are recommended.
Object visibility will vary depending on the night and weather.
While this is a free and limited event, bookings are essential.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
