Snowmaking Officially Begins And More Early-Season Snowfall At Thredbo Resort Overnight… Winter 2023 Is Looking Good!

Thredbo Resort has received more early-season snowfall this weekend, with colder temperatures allowing for an exciting early start to snowmaking operations overnight.

  Last night’s colder temperatures also allowed for an exciting early start to snowmaking operations for winter 2023.

• There are only 34 days to go until Thredbo’s Opening Day for the 2023 winter season on June 10.

Thredbo Resort is getting excited for a great winter season ahead, receiving more early-season snowfall and officially beginning its snowmaking operations overnight.

The mountain is now covered in a blanket of white, with a number of recent snowfalls continuing to build upon each other to create a base over the past week.

Last night’s colder temperatures created suitable conditions for an exciting early start to Thredbo’s snowmaking operations for winter 2023.

Thredbo’s snowmaking fleet remains world-class following continual enhancements each year. This winter, Thredbo has added a new pipeline gun on the Sundowner trail as well as four new fan guns on the infamous Supertrail and last winter, Thredbo added six new fixed snowmaking guns and four mobile snowmaking guns to its fleet. The mobile snowmaking guns significantly enhanced Thredbo’s ability to make snow across Friday Flat as well as across the entire resort last winter.

There is more snow and snowmaking conditions in the forecast for Thredbo in the coming days as a cold front continues to sweep the area, with temperatures set to drop as low as minus seven tomorrow.

There are only 34 days to go until Opening Day on June 10, kicking off what will be a massive long weekend of celebrations on and off the mountain. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Thredbo’s Winter 2023 Opening Weekend features a non-stop line-up of après, dining, live entertainment, kids’ activities and more.
